As co-partner of Berlinale Talents, ARRI supports this important platform for emerging filmmakers and helps to shape parts of the programme.
On February 20, 2024, the Camera Studio workshop took place at ARRI Rental in Berlin. In this hands-on session, DP Rui Poças joined colorist Dirk Meier to discuss their craft and techniques while providing a bit of insight to the participating cinematography talents. In addition, Christoph Hoffsten (Head of Camera Department ARRI Rental Berlin) and Marco Pohl (Head of Lighting Department ARRI Rental Berlin) took the workshop guests through technical introductions and practical exercises in which they explored influential aspects of image processing from lighting to lenses to texturing tools. Finally, everyone enjoyed watching and evaluating the results of the test shoots together.
Regarding camera, the focus was on the ALEXA 35 and the ARRI Textures feature, while the new SkyPanel X was used for the lighting, amongst others.
The Berlinale Talents Camera Studio was coordinated by cinematographer Johannes Louis, in exchange with Mandy Rahn (Senior Manager International Programs ARRI).
